One80 Bike Light
I've owned 3 generations of the ONE80's. These are at the top of the heap for sure. My ONLY complaint is the rubber on the inside of the front is a little harsh on the forehead.
I love these bike lights! They light up the night so you can see where you're going. I bought lights for both myself and my husband. I am very happy with them! Thank you!
I like this bike light. Lights very big area not just in front of a bike, but from the sides. No worries at nighttime. Allow to see any dangerous situation around the bike. The issue with charging through the light itself, but no problem at all, because a good charger UMS2 from Nitecore easily solves this problem. The real problem if you break mounting. The creator doesnt make a spare mounting. Overall I use just this bike light
The light itself was pretty damned impressive. A good projection and a good amount of lumens to light everything. The one downside for me, and this is potentially just how I ride (over quite bumpy terrain, jumping curbs and alike, it's not exactly smooth road cycling) is that there was a large cantilevered weight for the battery/light itself from the support restraint. That led to a cracking of the securing mechanism and the light fell off, no longer able to be secured to the bike itself.
It's now just used as a hand held torch with the kids instead, so not all lost.
A design of the locking mechanism, potentially metallic instead of plastic would be a good design improvement. Maybe I just got a bad mechanism, I'm not sure, but nothing lost for me.
I've used the One80 both on a conventional DF (Stromer ST1) and a recumbent trike (Catlike 559). I'm attracting the attention of drivers on both sides as well as in front. The build quality of the light is good, the removable battery is an excellent touch (so instead of carrying an extra light, I can carry just a spare battery).
My only issue is with the mount. Over time, they seem to break (repeated trauma from potholes and their ilk?). The folks at One80 have gone above and beyond replacing the entire assembly. I *think* epoxy or thermoplastic tape (or perhaps both) https://www.forj.com removes the ability to easily bring the light in to charge (or when parking to avoid theft) but holds promise for the long term.
If it weren't for this mount issue, I'd give it 5 stars.
